It is rather normal for women to have eyelashes diminishing but “do eyelashes grow back” is a question that troubles many. Generally women tend to lose few eyelashes at periodical intervals. Fresh eyelash is known to replace the lost ones in the hair follicle. With the advent of age under normal circumstances, it is quite common to notice the diminishing eyelashes in many of us. However, this is the normal result of the aging process.

Sometimes the eyelashes fall off in clumps and do not as per usual routing re-grow. This sudden phenomenon leaves many worried and surprised. The heavy loss of hair on the eye lashes is often due to onset of auto-immune disease. Dermatologists prescribe cortisone to remedy this ailment. Sometimes the reason behind this symptom is hypothyroid activity.

To control such conditions, simple medication checks the disease and helps in alleviating sparse eyelashes. How long does it take for eyelashes to grow back? This question is often asked by women with sparse eyelashes. Usually new eyelashes grow back over a course of four to eight weeks.

There are certain steps everybody can take to prevent this situation of falling eyelashes suddenly arising. It is best not to regularly use eyelash curlers or pull and play with the lashes. This causes the hair to break and all. Thus the re-growth factor depends upon how long the individual plays around with curlers, uses mascara or tweaks the hair.

Physicians recommend women to use eyelash curlers less frequently and restrict their usage only for exclusive occasions and restrict their use of mascara which should be only applied by the wand. Such type of application prevents eyelash shedding and guarantees re-growth of eyelashes. Scientific research indicates that warm climatic condition hastens the process of hair follicle growth.

Hair growth cycle of eyelashes is much quicker than hair growth on the head. The hair development process for this specific area is confined to few months. The hair growth of eyelashes is not a continuous process. They develop up to a specific stage and normally the process is faster for younger generation. If eyelashes have been damaged due to burn or accident, physicians sometimes recommend surgery or eyelash transplant when women seek remedial measures.
